Anyone know the type of bulbs that are used inside the speedo unit? It's an S3 955i '03 model, would be good to have them before removing the old ones.

www.worldoftriumph.com usually show these things in the 'parts' section schematics.
Had a look myself, but sadly with little luck, although I may have been looking at the wrong bike.

I had a look at that Steve, thanks but sadly not a lot of info. Doesn't give any specs in the owners handbook or Haynes either.

They're not soldered onto the circuit board type bulbs are they?

Doesn't look like they're soldered. Here's a couple of links which are helpful, one for the S3 '02 model which is mine and one from the RS which uses the same bulbs.

The main sticking point is finding the correct bulbs given they are coded different here in the UK to the US. The backlight which is a T5 / T1-1/2 / 74 I believe is a 286 bulb here. The nearest to the the idiot light bulbs which are described as a T3 neo wedge may be the 509T twistlock type but unsure of the bulb. I'll keep digging and report what I find.

I've ordered what I believe to be the correct LED bulbs for the speedo. I'll report back on how it goes.

Got the LED's today and replaced them and pretty pleased with them. The main issue I had was with the idiot light seeming dim in bright light, the LED's make them much brighter and easier to see. The backlight has improved things also especially the digital display.

The LED bulb holders been mass produced needed a slight shave around the tabs to fit snuggly into the circuit board but the whole thing took 1/2 hour. I used a scalpel to just trim them, easy.

I got 4 of the T3 3528 SMD bulbs for the idiot lights so 2 in green, 1 in blue and a yellow was ordered.
I got 2 of the T5 Neo Wedge 5050 SMD bulbs in white for the backlight.

    I used http://www.auto-leds.co.uk/epages/es694511.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/es694511/Categories
