    Hello from North Wales.

New to the forum, Triumph and the world of biking. Finally passed my test last month at the age of 35, after threatening to do it for the last 15 years. I used to ride bikes off road as a kid and always wanted a road bike but just never got around to doing the test.

So after a lot of looking and deciding, I've ordered a Thruxton R in silver with the Vance & Hines exhausts, tail tidy, LED indicators, tank pads and the tank strap with circular cut outs and black leather. should hopefully get it the beginning of next month. I know not the ideal time of year to be getting a new bike as a new rider but I'm praying for a few last gasp sunny days in November to run it in and get to the first service. I'll stick some pics up as soon as I have it.

Loving the forum and and all the great advice available. The build threads are spot on, its great to see peoples projects and how they are coming together. I'm hoping to get started on a build of my own over the next year or two (just have to let the other half get over me buying this bike first, She'll get used to it). Not sure what route to go down yet either a cafe bike or scrambler, I'll start looking at it towards the back end of next year.

Anyway back to waiting for my bike and looking at pictures of everyone else to keep me going.

    Hi Bamf,
Welcome on board, nice bike by the sound of it.
I got my Bonnie last year in December after ~ 30 years of not having a bike.
We had a week in Porthmadog earlier this year, cracking area and great roads.
Shame I didnt have my bike with me, but it was a family hol.
    Ride safely!

Welcome to the forum and look forward to some pictures of your bike next month !!
Congrats on passing your test and jumping straight in there with a great bike and some nice
add on's no sense in messing about and starting slow when your 15 years overdue :D:D:D
But take it easy until you feel comfortable and get a little experience under your belt.

    Cheers fellas
I'm itching to get out for a ride there are plenty of nice roads around the area. I know its a leap of faith jumping straight onto an R as my first bike, I looked at the 900 initially and then kind of fell in love with the R. I've been putting a bit aside for a bike over the last 12 months, so as soon as I passed I started looking into the thruxtons and then the r.

I'm kind of glad I waited to pass my test until now as my life preservation instinct now far out weighs the urge to be flat out all of the time. I'm looking forward to getting a steady first year under my belt around the local are and build up my ability and confidence on the bike. I'm looking at doing a bike safe course local to me once the weather picks up next year. I'm keen to pick up as much advice on riding safely as I can.

Looks like a great forum and a great place to get info and speak to like minded people who have years of knowledge and experience.

Welcome aboard Bamf .... I bet you can't wait for your new wheels. I hope the weather holds when you have it. I bought a street triple around the same time of year last year and managed a couple of nice days albeit chilly to get some miles on it. Just make sure you have some decent gear to at least keep some of the chill at bay. :)

Hello Bamf and welcome to the forum.

Lovely bike you've got on order mate I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Look out for the salted roads if your out riding during the winter months, you don't want to ruin your pride and joy over the winter.
Bikes aren't like cars where during winter a wash off will suffice.
Give a bike a coating of salt and it'll deteriate before you eyes:eek:

:( It's what I say when I find out I have to wait another week and a half to get my hands on the bike. Picking it up on the 9th of November now. I hope its dry, a bit of sun would be nice too.

Don't want to put a dampener on it, but before you do anything have a damn good look over her and check for what seems to be common problems on the R's as highlighted in other posts.
