Hello All, I have just purchased a Scrambler 900 2017 ( I presume it must be one of the last of this type ?) and pick it up on Friday, hopefully the weather will hold. I have traded in a Honda NC750X so its a bit of a change of direction but as soon i as rode the scrambler I loved it and are looking forward to doing plenty of miles over the summer. Any hints and tips on mods or changes would be appreciated. Regards Paul
Good morning and welcome in. I have a 2006 Scrambler that I bought used. The previous owner had her pretty well equipped, but there are quite a few differences between our respective models. There are also loads of bolt ons for her. Good luck with whatever you choose to change first.
Burcot Paul Welcome to the Family. We will want a picture of the Steed when it arrives something to keep us quite while Nursey medicates us. There is so much out there for your bike you really need to decide what you want. First thing I would do is the exhaust make it sound like a Bonneville. And again go on youtube have a listen to what sounds good to your ear. Ride Safe Joe.
Thanks for the great welcome, I knew Triumph owners would be a friendly bunch ☺ I think the exhaust will be the first job as it sounds really tame. I keep reading about re-mapping if you change the pipe, is this the same for all pipes or does it depend what you fit ? I amnot looking to wake the dead just something that sounds good without breaking the bank.
Paul Burcot No most pipes you can fit and do the 12 minute start by just starting no throttle and let it run till the fan kicks in. May have to do it a couple of times and the ECU will adapt to the new pipe. There is lots of mods you can do but it all depends on what you want. My bonnie 865 I decated and fitted Norman Hyde cans changed the air filter and that's good enough for me. On my 900 bonnie I've only changed the cans and filter it does every thing I want it to do. Everyone is different and want different finishes. Just take it one step at a time and you will get your desired bike. Ride Safe Joe.
Hello Joe and thanks for the reply, I dont understand what you mean when you say "run till the fan kicks in" i dont pick the bike up until Friday but understood that it was air and oil cooled as its the 865 scrambler. Pardon my ignorance if I am wrong as I have not had a Triumph before. Cheers Paul
Burcot Paul You said it was a 2017 then should have a fan. But the same applies start the bike and let it run for 12 minutes as I said you might have to do it two times and it will reset itself. I an sure some of the more intelligent peeps will be along soon and explain it better than I. The 865 is air cooled and I think I had to run it three times then take it for a ride but it reset.
