I've just picked up my 2011 Speed Tripple R, which came with heated grips. Not having ridden for 10 years, I left them off so everything was as it was last time a rode a bike for the trip home in the wind and rain. 10 minutes into the ride I had cold wet hands, so I thought I would give them a blast. Well. Why are these not fitted to every bike as a factory fitment? I wish I hadn't been so firm on taking the piss out of my soft friends for having them 10 years ago..... Even my fingers warmed up after a couple of mins. Anyone who has not tried them, I suggest you do. Winter riding just became a whole lot more enjoyable. Now, is there a gizmo I can use to stop the wind and rain?
Congrats on picking up your new bike, have to say heated grips are great and I fitted them to my Speed Triple: One of the best mods in my opinion.
A really worthwhile bit of farkling :wink: It was one of the first mods I did when I got the America. The Oxford heated grips make my 150 mile runs up to Essex significantly more comfortable.
Oxford Heated Premium Hot Grips - Sports - FREE UK DELIVERY They are not that hard to fit, cut off the old grips, fit the new ones, site the controller on the handlebars and connect ideally to a switched power source (I connected direct to battery but not ideal as you can leave them on and have a flat battery)
No idea how easy to fit as the dealer did it but there are some videos on-line. I paid about £80 for mine but the dealer fitted them for free. There are different types and you'll need to check out the one suitable for your bike. I suggest you don't use the Oxford web site. It's possibly one of the worst I've seen. Whoever is responsible for it should be look carefully at the BBC website for an example of function and design coming together simple and effectively.
