Hi, Have a 11 plate T100 and can get seat of easily but getting it back on is a different matter. Is there a knack to getting it back on especially the front hock. Thanks all.
The 790/865s have a front tab and two hooks about 60% of the way back plus the bolt tabs. With mine I would put the front tab just shy of its tank slot then apply slight downward pressure on the forward seat portion and slap the tail forward. It sounds like the midway hooks are not depressed enough to engage and preventing the front tab from engaging.
Best of both worlds, easier to handle, and can be nipped up with an allen key, so not so easy to initially undo by hand...
Crap design, full stop. Penny pinching by Triumph, no other logical explanation for it that I can see. Not helpful I know, just an observation.
I agree Curly, not a good design and have good news. Finally manage to get it back on with some wiggling, It will be staying on till I get a new seat. Bought a base and bare foam seat from Motone to cover so just deciding what type of brown tan and design to go for. Like this one but not sure how it will work with rear hump.
I definitely find that there is a “right” and “wrong” way to do it. I start by fitting the left-side bolt using an Allen key socket on an extension bar. It’s then fairly simple to press down lightly on the other side and fit THAT bolt. Tighten the right bolt, then the left.
