Well that’s me out then poor transporter driver this way it’s a mint post though I gotta say I have used this method since the late 70s as we didn’t have any money and you just could not source parts like you can these days used to smear oil over the surface and tap round the edges and push through the holes until you had the perfectly formed gasket then a good smear of Hylomar jobs a Goodun
Yep made loads of these in the past although can't remember if we could afford REAL cornflakes!! As a poor apprentice I got to be a dab hand making gaskets with a small ball pein hammer.
Sorry we couldn't help you this time Rudeboy but we have to price the items like this as at this moment in time as i am finding it very difficult to eat the contents of one packet in a week making these kits very rare and in high demand, hopefully in the future i will be able to expand the company with our children and grandchildren as we believe this will mean more being consumed and the basic or deluxe kits being offered at a far better % of gross income.
Sometimes using the correct gasket is the only way...... Had a Honda H100 when I turned 17 and really should have bought a head gasket when it started leaking but didn't. A friend on a unrestricted DT125LC (21 bhp ) and I, went one weekend to the coast. Needless to say it got thrashed flat out both ways. After we split halfway home the engine died. Compression seemed lacking. Plug out and probing through the plug hole with a screwdriver struggled to find a piston A seven and a half mile push down the old A1 got me to my grandparents house. Upon later inspection there was a neat 10mm or so hole straight through the crown . The weakened mixture had certainly challenged the aluminium.
Probably not. I was 17 and with no other option so just set off walking. A biker pulled up to offer a lift but I had no means of later collecting it so declined. You'll like this bit... A through and through tight ar5e, sorry Yorkshireman Took the piston to work, machined the hole out so it was truly round. Machined a suitable plug and tig welded it in. Rebuilt with old gasket that evening so only had to uses buses one day. Sorry for hijack
Great little story,,,I don’t doubt that the seeds of being a Yorkshire man were well and truly sown even at that age
