Hi All, Is it fine to use a front paddock stand with a center stand? Just worried that the paddock stand should not tip over the bike when it is on the centre stand. I want to remove the front wheel and do not want to go through the faff of suspending the bike on something and was thinking of getting a cheap front paddock. Any thoughts?
Yes, I’ve often used a headstock front stand with the centre stand on my wife’s VFR. Haven’t got a centre stand on any of the Triumphs though.
Mainstand + block of wood on scissor/small hydraulic jack under sump keeps my bike's wheels off the ground for winter lay-off. I also have a front paddock stand which I use with the bike on its mainstand with no problems.
Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Sadly, none of my cars have jacks hence that's not an option. The headstock stand won't work too since the T120 does not have a hole on the lower yoke to accommodate the pin on the headstocks. I have seen a video on youtube where someone stacked wood under the sump to tilt the bike back. Embarrassingly, I don't have pieces of wood lying around as apparently I have never needed them. I am too tempted to use my wife's gym ball and inflate it slowly under the sump but god forbid it deflates or even worse, bursts, I will end up with a bruised bike and a bruised head. As for the paddock stand, I have not seen one in person and there are no videos or photos on the internet where it is used on a Bonneville T120 so not 100% sure if I can use the stand and still be able to remove the tire. Might start looking at cheap car jacks or resort to using ratchet straps again- which I hate doing mainly since to strap around the center frame, I have to remove the tank and the D&O seat which is bolted to the frame. Any other ideas are welcome.
Had to read the ads twice to confirm that the price quoted was for the jack and not just the handle ha ha ha That's quite cheap and should work more than enough. Ordering now- thanks Dozers Dad!
I think I spoke a bit too soon in my last post. I read the ads again and realized both the options were indeed for the rocker handle only- which explains the cost. But thanks for highlighting it.
