To resurrect this as i'm bored.... the post wasnt really about the money footballers are paid as such but the fact that the clubs feel it is acceptable to take taxpayers money rather than spend money they do have properly.
It seems Liverpool have changed their stance but several other havent.
Having said that, the following picture tells you all you need to know about the world these sadly, badly maligned young men inhabit (sarcasm alert),

Yes Liverpool have changed their stance but only because of the ear bashing they got from the public/Liverpool supporters.

Wifey says I haven’t had one of those since I went to watch Bury play at Gigg Lane in 1951!
    Ken.
PS.Was 8 back then and had to travel up on the netting luggage rack on the steam train.
Only room for real footy fans on the seats.

Just remembered....l used to play football in the early ‘60s, but we did it on old motorbikes then.

Well it looks like the premiere league footballers have bowed to pressure. Details are sketchy but the plan was being worked on for quite a while but they were keeping it secret until it was in place. Well done them.

I suppose it helps keep many fans because it only requires you to concentrate for 90+ minutes...
Than, if your team loses, you can rampage through the streets attacking innocent people and property.
Can’t think of any other “Sport” that causes such violence.
Or, does that not happen anymore?
    Ken.

Probably the only true black mark over football - the appalling behaviour of the fans. Doesn't ever seem to occur with any other sport.
Still, at least it means that rugby and cricket fans get treated like adults and are happily sold alcohol at all grounds, which you can actually consume whilst watching the game.

Yep, rugby is a different world. You sit watching the match amongst opposing fans, all taking the piss out of each other and having a few beers then at the end shake hands and leave in an orderly fashion.

I always consider rugby league fans as the missing link between football and rugby fans, my observation of rugby league fans is they’re mainly harmless as 90% of the time fans from the same team fight amongst themselves
