    Definitely well spent - a real piece of our history. Better value than most over priced, under achieving lawn fairies! (sorry Premiership footballers).

    Well I think it depends on whether you believe that protecting our history & engineering prowess (??) in this ever-changing,ever-challenging world is worth it ?

    Personally I do. I believe it is important to remember that once "Made In Britain" really stood for something across the whole world.

    A majority of that money was privately funded, sir Mcalpine rescuing it from an American impound due to the owners going bust, why we let these things go abroad I don't know, although the yanks have preserved the queen Mary! Which I doubt would have happened here.
