Hi all, newbie from the US (please don't hold it against me...).

Just got my first Triumph, 2016 Scrambler 900. Haven't had a bike in about a decade, thrilled to be riding again. First day riding the bike, I parked at the grocery store on the way home, was immediately approached by a 75 year old guy who chatted for a bit about his first bike, a Triumph, about 40 years ago. I'd forgotten how much I like the rider community.

Anything I should know about these bikes?

    Welcome aboard.

What’s to know? Just that mechanically they are highly reliable with the very occasional and easily cured electrical niggle as they age. The weak points tend to be the pick up coil (crank sensor) and ignition coils (x2 on your bike). Frankly nothing to worry about unless you are one of the unlucky few and they are cheaply fixed.

Just enjoy the mix of modernity and nostalgia (your bike) and excuse the whiff of the locker room and drip tray (site residents). Oh and expect a bit of ‘real’ English from the residents as they recreate a dialogue between Archie Bunker and Alf Garnett to the general outrage of the more liberal wing.

Fentometc7:'I.don't know what it is, but my Triumphs seem to draw friendly people. I rode Yamaha's for years. When I went to Triumphs 18'years.ago, it seems everyone has a comment. Usually positive. [Of course I had one old guy that wanted to go on and on while I was trying to eat breakfast at a cafe on how much better his Harley was =typical H-D clown].
