Hi been looking for a bonnie but seen a great looking speedmaster, I am used to sports bike etc, how hard is it to adjust to the feet forward riding position? Bike looks & sounds great just......... only thing that worries me.:biggrin:
It suits some and not others. Personally I love it but it does put a lot of pressure on the base of the spine and although that doesn't bother many people it can be a real issue for others. I've bought a Norman Hyde seat for my America which helps but I still use an Airhawk for long trips. Notwithstanding the seat problems I really love the riding position. It's one which doesn't encourage the tear-arse in me and I'm quite happy to sit back and take my time if I have to. You'll need a long ride to be sure it's for you. Good luck with it :smile:
Feet forward no problem. Relaxing ride. BUT if yer like sports bikes are you sure your ready to slow down and relax, a different type of riding mentality. Luckily I have more than one bike, some feet forward, others not.
I hate the feet forward position, as I have back troubles they are excruciatingly painful. The last time I rode an LT I could not get off it. But that is me, do have a very long ride and I mean long to see how you go.
Hi 2Wheel I have just jumped from sports bikes, just traded my speed triple in for a brand new thunderbird storm. I had never ridden a cruiser before and the thunderbird is one big bike. It was very daunting going from sports to cruiser for me but within 30 mins i got accustomed to it. I did 100 miles on it the other day and felt a bond forming. Use the back brake more in slow turns and you will be fine, once your moving its easy. You tend to steer with your lower body and the fact no aching wrists makes it relaxing. I found myself throwing the bike around, and the sheer torque at low speeds hits the spot. Try the speedmaster, you will be surprised. I would of had one myself but I love the thunderbird storm better, as it has more grunt. Get a test ride and see how you feel, those new bonnevilles are tasty too.
I prefer the cast wheels, bikes lighter & more nimble, front wheel smaller, black engine, silver paint & standard (not T100) Prefer the ribbed seat too than the flat one, but its all personal choice, cant wait to get it, like an expectant Dad!
I thought that changing to forward pegs would be difficult and the initial ride home it was a bit strange but now I love it ,I recently completed a round a 600 mile round trip to Yorkshire and not a problem , but as stated in a previous post its not for everyone but good luck at the stealership :upyeah:
Anybody bought the Hyde conversion, moves the footrests back 100mil , the price is putting me off at the moment £300, looking at the kit can't see why it can't just be a mounting plate and use the original parts, maybe somebody can enlighten me!
I thought about those when I had my America but eventually went for footboards using the standard gear lever and brake pedal. I like footboards they allow you to move your feet about and are much more comfortable than pegs (well they are for me!). I was going to buy a 1600 TB and my first mod would have been footboards. In the end I bought a Commander which already had them fitted and I still think they are brilliant.
