What about when hooning up the coast road?
What happens when they discontinue your type of battery when it is 5 years old?

And it is winter, there is a snow blizzard and you get stuck in the middle of nowhere, and you have a choice of putting the heater on to stop the family from freezing or conserving the pitiful amount of power remaining in the batteries to attempt to reach safety when the weather improves :cold_sweat::D

Apparently the batteries are not recyclable, anyone know more on this.

Most Trips consist of two parts, going there and coming home, without an extended battery recharge period, so divide the very optimistic range by two.

Most optimistic battery recharge rates are battery temperature dependent.

Stopped or moving and need cabin heat or cooling, that will reduce range.

Apparently the Tesla Model X is allowed to pull all of 800 kg. That's going to be a very small caravan!
And you can obviously forget about pulling a horse trailer.

Dont know if the link will work, but its fagans test of the livewire.
I think overall he likes it, just range and purchase price the sticking points.
There are 150kw charge points going into service stations now, and Tesla have just opened a group of 250kw chargers in london.
I think maybe in 10yrs the will be affordable for the average jo...

Lets see how Charlie and Ewan got on with it on their latest tour, but until the price is acceptable and the range better it's just not for me, One day they will get there

I believe the Tesla X is rated to tow 5,000lbs, so something over 2,000kg (too late in the evening to do mental arithmetic exactly), and 70% of range when towing. I can't afford one, so it's academic. Technology doesn't stand still though, and price will come down.

I know someone with a Tesla and he is really impressed with it. He does quite long journeys with it and doesn't find it any less convenient than an ICE car. On a long motorway journey, he'll stop for a coffee or lunch, plug it in and both him and the car are ready for the next stint.

I still can't afford one and it's still academic, but I did find the little trick of it unparking itself from a narrow space so he can get in, quite cool.

My neighbour has a model 3 performance edition. It actually snapped my head back into the seat.
Definitely the fastest car I have ever been in. At 53k irrelevant to me, but competitive against equivalent ice cars.
I know what I would pick. They gave him a 30% power boost with an over the air update!!!!

I like that a lot, but two issues:
    1. Range. I'd want a lot more range. 200 miles please.
    2. "If you crash it, don't touch it." But I think after an off, and you're slightly dazed/not thinking straight, you might just reach down to check it over, and ZAP! - tasered by your own bike. I saw that the marshals have insulated lifting gear in MotoE

I like that a lot, but three issues:
    1. Range
    2. It can taser you after a crash
    3. Cost. Prices need to come down, but I'm sure they will as competition and sales increase.

Agree with all the above. Styling wise that brake light over the back wheel would have to go. It looks gash to me!! A nice little sculpted in one on the end of the seat please. Power wise, it looks like a lot of fun!!!

Personally I’m not against Electric vehicles, but I won’t be jumping until I can do everything with an Electric powered vehicle that I can do with a petrol engine.

I have been considering an Electric Car, so I wondered about how I would manage if I was going on holiday and flying from Gatwick Airport. It’s to far to get there and back on a single charge, and as far as I can see there are no facilities to charge your car whilst in a long stay car park. So until I can reliably do a journey like that I will stick with Petrol/Diesel.

Just been reading about ultracapacitors, which apparently massively improve regeneration from braking. So the technology is moving along.

But if he's right about ionity putting up the price to use their charging points by 500%, that's not going to help at all. Why would the do that?
