Finally got around to putting the various cans and bottles of bike care stuff in one box so I can find it all easily. Just took the box out of pile of similarly tidied junk. Opened it up to the familiar smells - except one particular smell seemed to be overpowering the others. Turns out the lid with other boxes on top of it pressed the button on a practically full aerosol of chain lube, depositing the whole lot over the other contents. It's very sticky in there. Used half a can of WD40 so far cleaning it up . Moral - don't bother tidying up, or use a deeper box or put cap on aerosols!!!!
I've got all my cans, bottles and such in a big box. Can't ever find anything anymore ! I spend hours lifting each item just to see what it is. I now keep the ten most used items side by side on the front edge of a shelf.
