Hi I have a 51 plate speed triple 955i. I would like some advise on the best way to flush my coolant? Any advise or tips would be great. Thanks!
As a general rule I disconnect the bottom hose to the allow coolant out then disconnect the top hose at the engine end and using a hose pipe flush out the block, then the radiator. Once the water is running out clear, reconnect all pipes and refill with new coolant. SIMPLES !
Wot he says, disconnect the hose that goes into the water pump. I refill a few times and run the engine up to temp to properly circulate the water. When it comes out clean, then do the final fill with 50/50 antifreeze. Don't forget to crack open the bleed screw on top right of the rad and lean the bike to the right to bleed out any trapped air.
Thanks eyore! I'm not that clued up. I use to take my old bike (Honda vtr) into the shop for services ect.. Really trying to put my hands to every thing now, you can imagine I have a lot of qestions jumping about in my head! Lol
Just one last point is addition to the advice given, run the girl up to temp until the fan comes on let her cool down and then check levels again. I tend to run them for a wee bit with the filler cap off to let the air disperse keeping it topped up then cap on before it gets too hot. As the thermostat opens it will let the water circulate so watch for this the water level will drop suddenly top up run for a wee bit then cap on and check as mentioned above. You can stick warm water in if you prefer anorl.
