On Saturday we started in a group of three bikes a family tour. The weather forecast had announced temperatures up to 17 degrees which would have been very nice to ride. BUT: The forcast went wrong. The sun played "hide and seek" with us and therefore we started at 14 degrees celsius in our hometown and arrived about two hours later at a lake called "Erlaufsee" at 9 (!) degrees celsius. Due to this low temperatures we were "kings/queens" of the road and the area there. Nearly no other biker showed up on our way. Also the police was hiding behind their warm "ovens" in the police-stations. At the lake we joined the local bistro and had some nice warm drinks and delicious cakes. After our warm rest we went back home and found in some areas the hidden sun. In the following some impressions. Our bike group. A Suzuki VStron 650, a Yamaha XSR900 and my Triumph Rocket 3 R Storm A view of the mountainous part of our tour. A view of the mountain called "Bürgeralpe". The lovely "Erlaufsee". The small bistro at the lake which offers local specialities. We warmed ourselves there! Delicious homemade cake with almonds. The "heart-bench" at the lake. Some "inhabitants" of the lake. A "once in a lifetime shot"! Normally this area is overcrowded with bikes.
What incredible scenery, @Markus! Sounds like, even though it was a bit "chilly" (ha!), it was a great ride. An adventure plus you had the roads to yourself. Thanks for sharing!
Lovely setting! I'm sure that you dressed for the occasion and temp! Was that a road to the top of the mountain? Did you ride up? Or was it a hiking trail? Looks like you avoided rain, which can take the joy out of a ride!
@Rob the Scott: This road was only running along a valley between the mountains and not to the top of it. But is was really enjoyable to ride. I was not well prepared this time. I expected the forecasted temperatures. But: who cares!
