Hi, Just registered here as have bought a Sprint 955i RS 2000.
Got a slight problem - the magnet in the speedo sensor on the front wheel has crumbled due to me not aligning it to pins on the wheel after replacing the tyre.
Have just got another sensor and need to connect the lead but the connector is somewhere deep under the tank (as usual, of course). Is it OK to cut the old lead and fit a new waterproof 3 pin connector to the new lead to save removing the tank? or is that a dodgy thing to do? Thanks

Hi & welcome to the forum.
As for the wiring predicament, i personally cant see a problem with cutting the wires, soldering the joint & covering with some heat shrink to make good & waterproof.

Hi BetaAlpha, thx for reply. I'm just a bit warey of removing the tank unless I have to as I've read a few stories of how they can be difficult to fit back on sometimes.

Well I spliced the wires on the old speedo sensor cable and joined them to the cable of the new sensor I've now fitted to the wheel and guess what ... I now know how fast I'm going!! No need to remove the tank etc - Piece of cake!
