Clear Coat Removal

    is it possible to remove the clear coat on a petrol tank without damaging the paint underneath. i got a tank and the clear coat is peeling of in places and i wanted to get it redone

    In a word no! Clear coat should be bonded to the colour finish and only flakes and peels because it has not been applied properly or there is surface contamination to the paint before it's applied.
    So unfortunately the whole lot needs repainting if you try and just re clear it will only do the same again and the edges will lift.
