Hi, I collected my new Street Triple R (LRH) last Saturday and managed to avoid the rain and stay on (mainly) dry roads bringing her home. Absolutely sure that I've made the correct choice. I had a little play with the quick-shift and can't wait until we're both through the run-in period so we can have some real fun.
Advice please.... What's best for cleaning the matt black bodywork?

Having had matt bikes for the last 20 years I would say just car shampoo and water then dry with a chamois and/or microfibre cloth. Avoid anything that polishes as it will eventually shine the matt paint and if you use Muc Off or any cleaning product equivalent be very sure not to leave it on for any length of time or in direct sunlight as it will cause streaking on the paint that is difficult to remove without vigorous rubbing ;)

Thank you. I suspected that this might be the case.

I'd use different methods on matt black paintwork and matt black plastic parts. I've found Autoglym plastic and rubber trim treatment makes plastic parts look like new. With paintwork, as already suggested, I just us3a good car shampoo and leather dry.

Auto glym rapid aqua wax after washing. I used it regularly on my matte grey speedy with great results. No shine, just a perfect finish.

Absolutely,, I got a bottle free with a magazine subscription and was skeptical, but its great.
I was nervous about using it on the bike at first, after a recommendation on this forum I gave it a go, no heavy rubbing needed, just a gentle wipe with a clean microfiber cloth, paint was perfect when I eventually sold the bike.

You have to be so careful not to shine the paint by rubbing it. I like poorboys matt detailer but as I say don’t be rubbing the paint hard. To clean flies off I soak baby wipes in water and lay on top of the flies for 5 mins. The flies just wipe straight off then. If you are looking for a cheap option on Matt paint then 50:50 isopropyl and distilled water works a treat in a spray bottle. Only use good quality soft micro fibre cloths though :)
