In the car world it's a mith that BMW's are reliable. Likewise Mercedes, in fact I had 3 mercs and all had problems whereas other brands I owned had non. This is also the experience of several colleagues and friends. I once asked a motorway tow driver which brands he towed most. Without hesitation he said BMW then Merc.
