Wurth High Performance Dry Chain Lube - It's easy and virtually no fling off, their chain cleaner is good also.
Fortnine produced a very interesting film on Youtube about which chain oil to use. As a result of that, whether rightly or wrongly, used a manual oiler (Cobra Nemo) fitted to the handlebars, filled with thick gear oil. Give a quarter turn every time I fill up - job done. No problems with dripping oil while stopped in traffic. My pennies worth.
I'm with @dilligaf and @Thripster ! Definitely gear oil. I've tried it and i'm now a convert. It's perfect. Clean chain, perfect lubrication and cheap as hell. Get a semi-stiff brush to put it on and then you get semi-stiff results!!!! Ultimate though (imho) , is a scott-oiler e-system. and with gear oil in it too (I suppose!!)
80W-90 gear oil. Delivered via a Cobrra Nemo like Thripster. Mines fitted to the frame. Much prefer the Cobrra over the Scottoiler system. As it doesn't need tapping into a vacuum or any 12v supply.
Thanks guys! Never knew about that Nemo 2. Seems simple and affordable accessory I might now buy. I find the 75W140 Synthetic gear oil to be the thickest with the least throw-off. I use the left over after filling my differentials on my Jeep.
I like BelRay Super Clean Chain Lube. Works best out of everything I have tried. Very little 'fling off'.
One key thing I see that is missed/not mentioned here is the chain NEEDS to be warm or a lot of the grease/oil/lube/wax will not get absorbed between the plates which results in fling off. I learned that the hard way first time...it makes a "good burn-out helper"...
Oil force fed down the pipe DD.....turn a quarter turn each time you fuel up. Can be mounted anywhere.....vacuum/small bore of pipe holds oil in
He will really like that DD assuming the quality is good. Fantastic price too. Meant to say that in hot weather, you'll notice a few unwanted drops are forced out due to expansion......but all trivial.
I have 5 litres of leftover truck transmission oil. It's perfect for chain lube. Next step, install a loobman to make it easy to oil.
Hi Jez, Looks like you've sniffed out a right deal there. As Thripster says you can mount them pretty much anywhere. They do need to be fitted as vertically as possible. The only part I didn't like with the Nemo was the mounting for the delivery bit of the tube. Didn't seem as robust as the Scottoiler equivalent. So I'm using one of theirs for my set up. You can purchase individual pieces of their systems.
Didn't know nemo system. Looks quite interesting to lube from the bars while riding. Oil filling is also maybe easier than on a hidden into the frame system? I've seen that on ali. Is that the same system? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/329...earchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_
Just ordered one for 20 euros, let it time to cross the planet and arrive in France, and I'll make a short feedback in 2-3 weeks.
