I will be fitting an alarm to my America shortly and it comes with a flashing LED to indicate when its armed. I would like the LED to go in the chromed centre instrument console on the petrol tank using one of the rubber blank offs thats there. I can see its all held on with three allen bolts. My question is am I ok to remove the bolts and lift the console enough to allow me to feed the LED light through ? Also what can expect to find as I lift it all up ? Cheers very glad in advance.
Hi beanie Yes it lifts off easily mate Three bolts like you said Easy removable electric connections and it's off!
Easy as dilligaf says, but you sure you want to fit an alarm? My experience is they stop the owner riding more often than stop getting pinched! Get a good alarmed disk lock and a feck off big chain. Old school and effective and unless you lose the key, you can always get the bike to ride away.
thanks guys for all your advice. I know what you mean Mr.Orange about complex alarms...this is just a movement sensor with flashing LED armed warning...very basic and not connected to ignition etc....I do also lock it with a big f'ing chain and lock as you put it.
