I know there are some fastidious chrome cleaning members around the site, perhaps someone will have an answer to my slight problem? New taps fitted to bath and hand basin, chrome finish, Bristan Hourglass, not cheap jobs. Watermarks like you wouldn't think possible, only removed with disproportionate amount of elbow grease only to reinstate after seconds of tap use. Talk about unsightly! There has to be a preventative measure, apart from abandoning personal hygiene, surely?
There’s a shower spray that’s applied just after the shower has been used, not sure what it was called but it removes all streaks whilst wet.
Most any Ex Harley owner will tell you that #0000 steel wool is one of the best chrome cleaners found anywhere. Just try it and I'm sure you will agree. Just use light pressure and all will be well!
On a brand new tap, nnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I know from having to replace the new ceramic type valves that the area under the top cover is smeared with some kind of grease, don’t know why but is it possible that you are getting some of this coming out and mixing with water to create those marks that are hard to clean off?
It is a ball ache, you know how it is, first thing you look at is the one thing that you're not happy with. I must admit I would be very hesitant to put any grade of steel wool to them! Could be something to do with the ceramic disc type lubricant? Our old Bristan screw top taps were a piece of cake to clean and kept clean afterwards for a few days.
