After many years of using sports tyres and up to 4 pairs a year I decided to replace my worn S21 with Bridgestone t30 sport touring tyres . I was very dubious but after feedback from other forum members I opted to try . Scrubbed them in today and after about 50 miles I was pushing as hard as I normally do including scraping things lol . These are almost as grippy as my S21 however the bike feels ever so slightly different , they roll into bends easily and I would happily do a track day on them . I came back from Moffat today absolutely hooning it and had no issues whatsoever ( this was more than a sports touring ride . As I say I was always a doubter but no more . I shall update again after other decent blasts .
Nice one matey. I have tried pr4s n they were brilliant too. I went through some harsh weather riding n they held up well. We did 6,000 miles in 10 days... covering 10 countries all the way to Romania n back. The tires still looked good. A bit squared off due to playing in Autobahn;-)
People are getting ripped off by getting persuaded to buy sports tyres, when all you need for the road are sports touring tyres they give enough grip for even for the most aggressive riders. i must admit when i first got into sports bikes i was brainwashed into thinking i must have sports tyres but after spending a fortune on them a year i tried a good sports touring tyre and was amazed that they felt just as good ..sports tyres leave them for the track and save a fortune
As I needed new tyres for mine, I ended up with M7RRs (got them cheap from JJC Rally & Race for £220) Usually they are around £260. Mind you, my bike is only for a weekend joy, so these would last me a while. Prior to PR4s I had the M7RRs and they were brilliant but as you said if you are planning to putting miles then obvious route is sports touring tyres. I have seen and heard people using PR4s on track and they rate them well. + you get the added benefit of mileage out of any good sports touring tyres
