I added my bike to my car policy with Greenflag.

Have a look at the various premium current accounts as that could work out for you. I have a Nationwide flexplus account and added SWMBO to it to get her breakdown cover too, so we both get personal breakdown cover as well as family annual travel insurance and mobile insurance too. It costs £18 per month.

My bike is covered by AA Membership. I also carry the phone number of a local mobile mechanic who would recover if there was a problem with the AA.

To be honest, I kinda hope not to need recovery on my modern bike, but a previous bike was recovered by the AA without too much hassle.... it was a Hyosung GT650 and a breakdown wasn't totally unexpected!!

Actually my Hyosung was a decent bike, that one breakdown was a loose cable which I should have spotted myself.

I went with the AA, personal cover at £89 which covers me whatever I’m in/on, if/when I breakdown. The last recovery I had was around 3yrs ago on the Street Scrambler with a flat (tubed) rear just outside Lincoln.
I got the usual inflated renewal price well into three figures but a phone call and haggle sorted that. The new Scrambler has tubeless tyres so I carry the tubeless repair kit which has proven itself on previous occasions. Still nice to have the backup recovery option though.

As your bike is over 10 years old you may have more limited options. I have Green Flag personal cover for myself and Lady Poppy but it specifies it only covers vehicles under 10 years of age. Check before you buy!

My SUV is over 28yrs old but no problem to the AA. I’ve never broken down it in the 21yrs I’ve owned it but if I do I don’t want taking to the nearest garage so some “mechanic”, who’s probably never seen one before, can try to repair it. I want bringing home so I can repair it!:)

Yes i got my insurance with Carole Nash with breakdown cover included. Never had any of my bikes recovered to a garage. I state the bike must be taken to my home address and if i can't fix the problem i then call Bulldog Triumph who pick the bike up for repair. I have used it a couple of times over the last couple of years and no problems.

As @littleade I have my cover through my Barclays Bank account, which also includes travel insurance. Being over 70 the travel insurance is extremely competitive comparing with the market.
