    Evening folks.

Made a total Newbie mistake today while out on a ride to parents house.

Ended up trying to ride off with my disc lock left on front brake. Bike jolted forward, alarm went off obviously so took off lock and rode bike down to parents house, thought nothing of it.

However on the way back I noticed the front brake lever was not working unless I repeatedly pressed it and even then would take 4 goes before could feel front brake working.
When i wheeled bike to lock outside flat I noticed brake was sticking and making noise similar to when bicycle brake is stuck to wheel.

Probably very simple fix but wanted to get your expert opinions on possible fixes?

    Cheers in advance. :)

Sounds like you may have warped the disk when it hit the disk lock

I'd take the brake calliper off check your pads are ok, spin the wheel to see if the disc is warped, if not breath a sigh of relief, re assemble check em again and if ok breath another sigh of relief then go and buy a Curley neon coloured thingy to attach to disc lok and handle bar so you don't do it again

Yeah I would if I had some way of lifting bike off the ground but Im thinking rather than make a pigs ear of it I will take it to a guy 2 miles away who seems to get great reviews.
Fingers crossed its not warped or worse. :(:(

    Not great jtd!
Front disc was warped and rear disc was rattling so had both replaced with Brembos as well as pads.

An expensive mistake...never to be repeated, I hope!!:oops::eek::(

    Cheers DD!

The unfunny things being the disc lock that caused the hole in my wallet is alarmed, it just only seems to go
off when its touched...is this right?

Might look at investing in a slightly more sensitive soul to match my bladder after a Saturday night! :D:D

The curly neon wire between lock and handlebar is the cheapest way! You can't miss it, "oh why is that curly neon wire on my handlebar? Is it to remind me to buy milk? Eggs? Put the rubbish out?" If you then ride off with the lock on, well enuf said

I use an old Oxford Disc lock (not alarmed), with a curly neon wire to the throttle handle.
Also, I park my bike with the rear tyre to a wall and I place the disc lock as close to the bottom of the caliper as possible so it can only move an inch forward before stopping.
    Never forgot about it.
