    Hi All

Just returned to biking after ~38 years. My wonderful wife surprised me last year with permission to return to two wheels; bought it new in October 2019 from Youles (Bradford), the last new yellow one I could find. As you can see I felt it needed a few extras.

It probably wasn't the best time of year to buy, bad weather set in pretty much when I bought it, and I was just bringing it out of hibernation at end of February when the wiring loom failed at ~250 miles (known indicator fault). Youles didn't hesitate to replace the loom and I was just starting to work on getting my skills back (far too many years not riding) when the Lockdown happened and my Bikesafe course was cancelled. Maybe I'm not supposed to ride it but just look at it.

Anyway looking forward to being back in the biking community.

Welcome to the family. Did the Wife show you that big insurance policy she has just taken out on you. Its a whopper. Anyway its a smashing machine thanks for sharing the pictures. You will fit right in here in the asylum. You know the inmates never get to ride their bikes either as they just imagine them unless medicated. But no there are some great characters here who care and help where they can. And yes a bit of a bummer when you go treat yourself with the wife's blessing and the world collapses around you. But you will get there soon this lock down can't run much longer as the country will collapse. But then it will rain. Eh cheerful I am.
    Regards
    Joe.

Thanks for all the warm words of welcome.

I'm sure I'll have loads of questions.

Joe; funny the wife did say something about life insurance. And yes it will probably rain when the lock down ends after all it will be summer by then. This good weather combined with hearing the odd bike blasting up the nearby A road doesn't half tempt: I tell myself they're probably transporting urgent medical supplies.

What I've noticed since my late teens and early twenties is that getting married, having kids and getting older does increase one's sense of self preservation, hence choosing to do return to biking courses. Also the handling and feel of modern bikes is very different from those of the 70's / 80's; I seem to feel more detached from the road than I remember, or maybe that's senility setting in.

Well I did try to warn you. My Tracy when I clean the windows she gets the policy out and stands at our window showing it to me. Sense comes to us all well most of the time. That little devil still sometimes gets the better of us. You wan to get the bike out and take a couple of gentle meanders in the country or to the shops. You will soon get the feel of it again. Also you know the modern bike do stop better handle better and feel right to ride. Just nurse your self in to it again. Better still if some one local has a bike go for a spin with them.
    Regards
    Joe.

Welcome! I almost settled on your exact bike (same color too) as my first, but then in the 11th hour was tempted by the siren song of the aircooled Thruxton 900 with only 1500mi that nobody wanted in the used market as I am its 3rd owner.

Like me, you are now officially a BAMBi - Born Again Middle-Aged Biker
