Bonnie Neutral Switch

My 2013 Bonnie sometime stutters when first started up and the neutral light flickers. Putting it into gear seems to reset it and after that it is ok. I'm assuming the neutral switch is playing up, do these generally need replacement and do they require the oil to be drained to remove and refit?

It’s a simple plunger switch screwed into the underside of the gearbox. It bears on the selector rod which has a cut out that allows the internal plunger to actuate the switch. Cheap and easy to replace and with a helper or planning and a fat finger you can switch (sic) over with minimal oil loss and an egg cup top up.
At the same time (I.e. first!) check your side stand switch is operating freely too. They are even more prone to issues and benefit from a blast with WD40 then re-packing under the rubber cap with silicone (Di-electric) grease.

And sometime you just need to remove it clean it up and its fine again as they do build up a lo of crud on the face.

I'll try giving it a clean first, there is some oil around it so perhaps it has come loose. Can you re-use the gasket, presume it is a copper one and I can just anneal it?

Thanks for the replies.

I removed the switch, cleaned everything up and re-installed it. It was an absolute bugger to pull off the lead, and I could not push it back on. In the end I had to widen the gap on the lead connector a tiny bit to get it on. Anyway, it seems stable enough and all working correctly now.
