Hi all Has anyone any ideas if it’s possible to move the riders seat back on a Bonneville America to give me more leg room. Any ideas would be welcome. Bernard
What year America ? They are not all the same. I put a heel/toe shifter on my 2002 and made.the shift rod a bit longer to drop the heel down to suit me. Did give me a little more room. You have to remove the stop on the footpeg if you do that. ...J.D.
Changing the bike isn’t an option, especially after all the battles I had with the wife getting this one.
Hi It’s a 2008 America. I’m happy enough with the foot position, but being 6.4” it tends to push me towards the back edge of the seat, giving me a bit of a numb bum! I’ve not been on a bike for over 40 years so it’s all a learning curve.

I think there are two options, one as mentioned the footpegs or have the seat re-upholstered to remove the area that is causing you grief and allow you to sit further back
The early,.carburetor America and Speedmaster have a little more leg room than the later EFI versions. But at 6'4" you are going the be hard pressed to make either one work. I am 5'11". But I am kind of "lanky". You have to buy a bike that fits. I have mine taylored to me after some minor mods. Really, I think we all need to tayor our bikes. I also added some short bar risers with the stock handlebars to get a slight slouch out of my posture. ...J.D.
Cheers all, I manage for now as I’m not doing many miles. there’s always a way around things like this, It’s just a matter of time before I solve it. mid read on an earlier post that another America owner had lost his mileage trip reset knob and wasn’t able to get one from triumph. I’ve just replaced mine and I bought it from world of triumph, I’ll find the part numbers if anyone needs them.
