Is yours the one with two lasers to line it up? I remember looking at a contour one last year for skiing then gave up when the salesman tried to sell me the gopro..
I think it's the contour that has the GPS which I've heard is a really neat feature, also the big sliding record switch which is very good. The latest offerings from GoPro and Drift seem to have eclipsed all the others at the moment though - although you have to keep in mind they are more expensive. No matter what we decide on we know that next year there'll be something better! No vids yet I'm afraid - just back from a stint offshore, the wife's away to a wedding for a few days so I'm in charge - kids, school runs, sleep overs... Haven't actually picked the bike up yet - managed to call in to Bill Smiths briefly today and stroke it! Just need an hour to myself and the weather to go with it...

Quick update on the Ghost. Got a second one for my birthday last week and had them both out for my first proper ride today - down to a mate's in Oswestry for the morning. First - the mounts: One on the helmet, and one on the rear... This is the Ghost self adhesive 'flat' mount - (I use a 'curved' one for the helmet) it's a perfect fit on one of the rear lights mount 'steps' The camera just clips into the mount... (on it's side - you can just make out the lens is rotated 90 deg to compensate) The remote controls are just strapped onto the handlebar - the flashing LED's (Green = Video and Red = Record were clear enough even in bright sunlight. A couple of completely un-edited clips from this morning... - oh it seems I have to put them on line somewhere else first...:frown: ...coming soon...just as soon as I figure out how! Seems I have the wrong video file format (MP4) for You Tube - videos might take longer than hoped... OK - forget the video clips - I've checked camera(s) settings and changed file format from MP4 to MOV - out tomorrow so will try again then.
Bumblebee. Just picked up a ghost... Just how good are the pads? Worried about sticking them on the bike and then loosing the camera at speed... Where is best to fit it on the front so forward facing? Cheers
Also noticed you have 2 remotes... Looking I thought you could switch on more than 1 camera from 1 remote... You using 2 So you can choose which camera to switch on?
I have a bit of fly fishing line tied to the camera and lash it to the bars when I have the camera mounted on the tank - just in case. Good luck with the filming, look forward to seeing some vids SB
Hi Screwball and congrats on the purchase. So far I've used a curved adhesive mount on my helmet for the forward view, and a flat adhesive mount on the rear light assembly mount (see prev pics) I've got 350 miles on the clock so far and the cameras were mounted for over 300 of them at speeds up to 90 eek: did I say that) I did try a Drift Roll Bar mount on the front forks but when it fell off before I could get underway I thought it must be faulty and returned it to Action Cameras who immediately replaced it (Action Cameras have proved to be excellent! Very fast response to all my queries) As it turns out the only thing at fault was the knucklehead who mounted it! In my defence the last time I owned a bike the mudguard was mounted on the forks and didn't go up and down with the suspension! (and I did go to great lengths to ensure it cleared everything lock to lock...) I will call Action Cameras and apologise (and pay for the replacement!) I'm offshore again at the moment but I will have another look at front mounting - maybe higher up and between the forks if sufficient clearance from the radiator. I'd like to get a mount that would allow a forward view and include the speedo / rev counter - I'll look at getting a handlebar mount and seeing if it can be modified to raise the camera as it the handlebar is too low down behind the instruments as it stands. Returning to your query on the adhesive mounts though all I can say is that the 2 applications I've used so far have been fine. It is a concern though - I gave each location a quick wipe with a bit of white spirit before sticking the mount on - somewhere to attach a lanyard on the camera would be reassuring. I have at track day booked next month and the small print does mention any cameras being 'bolted' on - don't know how that will turn out yet. One further point - my rear mounted camera did seem to shake a bit but I subsequently found that the 'universal mount' (the bit that that screws to the camera) was still loose even when fully tightened up. Took it to pieces and couldn't figure out why but I have a spare so next outing will show how much of the shake was down to the mount. Long winded again I know (night shift! :biggrin Best of luck! bb
Yes you can control more than one camera with a single remote and that's what I tried to begin with. The (understandable) problem with this was that the remotes are 2 way - when the camera is recording it tells the remote and the remote flashes red accordingly. I guess that while the remote can talk to a number of cameras - it can only listen to one! I found that when controlling the 2 cameras all indicators on the remote went to white - in effect no indication of the camera status at all - hence the 2 remotes mounted on the bars. So yes I can control the 2 cameras separately, but that wasn't the reason for the 2 remotes. :smile: bb
Braided or mono Bry?? :biggrin: That's a good idea though - I'll need to check when I get home whether I can get some line between the camera and the Drift 'universal' mount. I've got a Drift suction mount too that's quite 'chunky' Made of metal with some weight to it so haven't plucked up the courage to try mounting on the tank yet. It might solve the problem of a forward view that would include the instruments but I'd certainly want a secondary attachment before taking it on the road. bb
