What is a good way to charge the battery over winter can I use the plug in socket up front

 

Get yourself an optimate 3 or 4 it will have a socket that attaches to the battery that you can plug the charger into. Saves removing the seat etc

 

Yes you can charge through that accessory socket. You will need to buy a powerlet adaptor to wire onto whichever battery charger you have.
