Hi all, I’m about to join the Triumph fold for the first time, having just put a deposit down on a Speed Twin 1200.

I’ve been riding a BMW RnineT for the last 5 years but have had too many problems with it over the last couple of years so looking forward to having something with a warranty again!

I thought I would move away from the ‘classic’ style bikes but got a test ride on the twin out of curiosity. What a great engine. Similar power to the RnineT but it seems to spin up faster and appears more eager. It feels lighter on its toes too. This challenged me to really think about what I wanted form a bike and the fun factor won out over practicality, so really looking forward to getting the keys next week.

The downside is the wallet will take another bashing, The inevitable farkling list has already been started, I think most of us have been there...

Anyway, great to be part of the forum and looking forward to being part of the Triumph community.

Welcome, I chose the Speed Twin over the R9T and lots of others for sheer fun factor, it is very agile! God knows how much time I've wasted on the intranet with this 'farkling' thing! :p

    Hi There!!

As a fellow beemer rider who just paid a deposit on a Triumph, I can totally relate to that German reliability. Mine likes to spend Januarys in service.

The R NineT is a pretty sweet machine, it's one of the bikes I testrided. The Triumph edged it.
