america info please

    Hi everyone...just got my 2016 america...couple of questions..on right side of handlebar there is a blank plate in switch gear and some sort of open cable connector..whats this for ? Lastly I need to fit my (car) tomtom satnav but dont know best way to get a power supply. Many thanks if you can advise ?

    I guess the blanking plate is where the switch to control the lights used to go before the Euro mollycoddlers decided we had to have the lights on all the time.
    Wiring in a sat nav, sorry can't offer any advice on that.

    Ran my power supply straight from the battery under the tank. I only use an old smartphone as a satnav unit, so power drain is minimal, so just left on all the time.

    I would go on ebay and get a 12v waterproof cigarette lighter type socket thingy (guessing that is whats on the end of your tomtom power lead), wire that in and find best position so you can easily unplug it when not required. Loads of space up under the tank. Or cobble together a bracket under the top yoke !

    Likewise I ran the power line straight to the battery.
    Easiest way to do it.

    If you have an optimate charger I bought this which is pricey but handy even with the 9p saving!

    I've have two power output plugs fitted, one for slimline cigarette lighter style plug adapter and also a usb plug.
