2011 speed triple Did anyone ever felt the need for an aftermarket suspension upgrade for road riding ? Something like a Nitron rear n K-Tech front internals.. I am not planning on it (as the standard current set up seems ok for me) but just curious if anyone went that route and whether they have made a noticeable massive improvements . I weigh around 75kg with gear. I mean we are just talking about hard countryside twistys blast. Cheerful lovely people
I thought about it but it made more sense to just sell mine and get the R which I did, as a bonus I got the lighter PVM wheels. All in all I'm very happy with the decision, can even dial in a more comfortable ride than the non R.
I thought about, but never got it done. Had it set up for my weight and it seemed ok. Always had something else to spend the money on.
This is the cheapest way to improve your bike http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/triumph-s...778362?hash=item360d06b8fa:g:C3AAAOSw4shX3tD3 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/triumph-s...948224?hash=item25bea005c0:g:hNcAAOSwjXRXaR4x
Dougie....yes I've been told that many times by my buddies ;-) Darkman . ...I saw that n the guy just lives 10 mins from my place. Roadrider....I had mine professionally set up n so far I am happy with the handling . I'm just trying to find out if anyone had any issues with their oem suspension . OEM might not suit everyone depending on weight n riding style . Still just wanted to find out....
Trident has a Hagon shock on the back after SWMBO reported painful jarring from every single bump. Vast improvement. Daytona had (probably still has - I had to sell it) a Nitron shock fitted, as it started firing me out of the seat whenever I managed to hit a bit of a bump at any reasonable speed. The difference was like night and day.
I know some people have had issues with the standard suspention. The front seems to be the worst but fixing the front shows how bad the rear is.
Yes I did on my 2016 S. The front was way under sprung for my weight at 225 lbs. The back spring had to be cranked way down to get anywhere near the correct sag resulting in a harsh, launch your arse on a bump, ride. K-Tech U.K. was great in working with my shop here in the states. The front is now spot on. We are awaiting a custom rear spring from Eibach to install on the rear Showa shock. Ohlins are great (I ran them on my Monster) yet a good number of champions have won on Showa suspensions over the years. I am not tracking this bike so for me it is all about real roads and getting the best ride I can. I posted another thread here about doing this. Money well spent for me as I plan to keep this bike. CHEERS, Chris
I had a maxton rear shock and maxton internals in the forks on my 98 R1. The bike was totally transformed . the set them up to what they called an isle of man set up and only needed very small adjustments for track days. The bike wasn't harsh or unforgiving in any way it almost felt soft on the road and you could feel the bike digging into the road on bends and under power . This is why i went for the R model but the Ohlins isn't anywhere near in my opinion which is why I'm thinking of a trip to K tech
After I give a proper run with oem which has been professionally set up for me....and if I'm not satisfied then I need to consider: Nitron NTR 1 OR 2 & K-Tech front internals. This bike is purely for a fast weekend blasts through the countryside twistys .
Had a chat with Maxton "Richard". He advised me that I should go for NR4 (Monoshock) which will be perfect as I don't track this bike and their complete front internals job. Total cost £1,000 incl VAT. He promises this would transform the bike and ofcourse a pleasant enjoyable ride. He advised only take this route if I am planning to keep the bike for a long period of time. I think this is the route I am going to take. Time to start putting money aside
Look at the success they have at the TT shows they know what they're doing with road bikes. had a mate use them for his ducati with ohlins suspension it wasnt as good as his bikes with maxton stuff so he ended up at K tech who specialise in ohlins. you won't regret using maxton
At the rate I'm spending I'm going to need a part time job in addition to my full time job But must be done if you want to get the best enjoyment out of your bike
I just went for the basic NTR1, which was plenty good enough for what I needed (old fat b'stard with petite wife, never getting anywhere near the capabilities of the bike!). The difference was amazing, especially for Her Ladyship!
I got my 2010 bike Speed triple two years ago and the rear OEM shock was badly rusted and painted over, and far too soft for me (16 st in the seat) I bought myself a Nitron R3 and installed it myself (plus shock sock to protect the unit), fantastic bit of kit with its myriad of adjustment available. Recently had the front upgraded with new K-Tech springs and pistons. Retrospectively I didn't need the pistons, but the springs made a big difference as the originals were too soft
I had a lengthy chat with the following people: Maxton: NR4 Rear Shock + Front Maxton internals = £1,000 inc VAT..........Andy recommended this RT10 Rear Shock + Front Maxton internals = £1,212 inc VAT..........I prefer this option as I have more adjustments should I need it. K-Tech: Rear shock revalved + new Spring & Front K-Tech internals = £750 inc VAT MCT: Re-valve Front & Rear with new oil = £479 inc VAT (He says this is the best way as it will achieve 90% of the aftermarket job) I am a little dubious on this claim!!! Bike HPS: Nitron NTR 2 Rear Shock + Front K-Tech internals = £1,078 inc VAT I am confused with all this. Any thoughts from you lovely people is very much appreciated
