@Sandi T - my post was a couple of minutes to midnight, so the next calendar door was just about to open, revealing a glorious mk1 Ducati 900 Mike Hailwood replica... it’s a thing of beauty! Look at the fairing lines, swooping back from the perfectly positioned headlight... sleek and slender, a purposeful design that tells you that this Bella Signora can pick up her skirt and shift some kilometres!
My mate John has one of these, rusting away in his shed for some reason. He was meant to do it up (he even found original pipes for it from Italy) but it’s still not been touched after 8 years. Shame as it’s a beautiful thing (even rusty)
Shouldn't do this - so I'll apologise to DCS in advance if this constitutes a thread derailment - but, because it's @Sandi T (and girls ALWAYS get what they want. I'll bet she's an only child! ) and the pics ARE a bit special so I'll crave some indulgence from all. I'll include just 2 on this thread, and maybe do a separate thread some time in the future? Enjoy.
Yeah, right! In my dreams. It's the home of my friend in California with some - by no means all - of the bikes he owns and has restored. I think that most of those in the pictures have won concours prizes - including Pebble Beach - but all of them are his restorations.
What a spectacular collection, doubly so when it’s his resto-work! I look forward to you doing a feature on them!!!
That bike needs to go to a good home and to someone who will love and care for it, @Ducatitotriumph. Maybe you need to "liberate" it. Or at least encourage your mate, John, let it go.
@Adie P Wow! Thanks for starting my day off right, Adie! What a sight to behold. BTW, I'm the only girl in my family but the oldest of three with two younger brothers. For what that's worth. Now, back to our originally scheduled programming. Thanks again for this MC Advent Calendar, DCS!
15th Dec For all us lovers of beautiful American iron, check out the knucklehead... https://www.motorcycleclassics.com/...rcycles/1936-harley-davidson-el-zmsz15ndzhur/
16th Dec https://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/Moto Morini/moto_morini_350_spotr 80.htm The above article is interesting but it’s not very phone friendly… it’s better viewed on a bigger screen! So for the myopic among us, I’ve added a video that is pleasantly informative! https://youtu.be/c9MNk-UhXp8
17th Dec I suspect you all knew this was coming? If not, Google the registration plate number. The write up is of a different machine... love the original twin lamps. https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/21904/lot/14/
This was their first incarnation of the boxer twin… but due to ill thought out cylinder placement, the lower placed Scheißsammler ground off on the road surface, leaving us with the less familiar BMW single!
