Greetings, bike running fine following carb rebuild but slight smell of fuel so suspect running rich. Can you remind me how to lean with the mixture screw. I set them at 2 1/4 turns out but do I screw in or out to lean. Either way should I decrease/increase in 1/4 turns ?
Have a look at the spark plugs and see if they tell you anything about how it’s running. From what I remember about carbs (long time since I fiddled with a carb) screwing out the air screw lets more air in and weakens the mixture.
Depends on what type of mixture screw you have. If it’s a fuel screw then clockwise and inwards makes it run leaner. If it’s an air screw then clockwise and inwards makes it run richer.
I have these carbs and I think the screw is item 12 so does that help with whether it is in or out to lean the mixture. https://www.worldoftriumph.com/collections/100058915-0-2?type=tiger-885-carbs-upto-vin-71698
Looks like it should be a fuel control screw, confirmable by having a stepped tip with a sharp point. Modern air mixture screws have smooth gently rounded ends.
