At risk of appearing cynical, because it’s the nicer all round bike, will therefore be the better seller and hence will make more profit.
Sounds like the 400 Triumph is a real looker. I agree, it's bound to be a popular choice. Can't wait to find out the price.
Umm, seeing both in the flesh yesterday, my opinion was the speed looked better. Someone pointed out the scrambler was the better bike as you got handguards and a few other bits for "free"..... I pointed out you'd just paid £600 for those Both front ends, and bear in mind this was just a sit on in a showroom, felt good and substantial however I couldn't say the same for the rear. Both felt impressively boingy to me I pointed this out to the salesman watching and he gave me some drivel about the scrambler having softer spring rates for off road use I pointed out, again, that I was referring to damping rates not spring rates. Prior, I was thinking if I was to buy one, it would be the scrambler but changed my mind on seeing them together. Make of that what you will but you need to see both to better assess ....... however if I was to spend £5k plus in that Triumph dealership on that day, it would have been on the very tidy 20k miles N registered Fireblade, very nice

Triumph always seem to scrimp on the suspension of the less sporty models after all.

As an accountant myself I should be a bit grumpy about that statement! Let me deflect that by suggesting someone in marketing probably held a blue sky focus group yoga and expectation awareness session and came up with a price the finance and production teams struggled to keep to by making agonising decisions on which bits to focus on while making it easy for users to make their own upgrades for a reasonable cost to make it the bike it should have been in the first place . You should be thanking us.
