No spark after long storage. New battery, new coil, wires checked OK, pickup tested and gives 5.87 ohms so OK, pick -up gapped at 8mm, got 12v to coil primaries, wires from coil to big pigtail have power. Still no spark.
Anyone want to hazard a guess on this? Do I need a new ignition module. It was under a big mouse nest and maybe the little buggers peed all over it.

8mm or .8mm gap?! Should be the latter. Pick up about .7 ohm resistance.

Assuming typos then I would say the logic is this...... you have power to a new coil so you are generating a magnetic field. For some reason power is not being cut/collapsing the field/generating a spark.

You either have a continuity problem from pick up to ECU or ECU to ignition coil (easily tested) or it IS an internal ECU fault.

many thanks for responding. Yes, pick up gap .008 mm. My continuity test on the pickup showed a consistent 5.87 ohms. Is this bad? What's your test for continuity from pick up to ECM?

You got me checking the multimeter settings! Check the range at the pick up should be about 560 ohms cold (and nearer 700 hot). Sorry to mislead. Continuity can be as simple as battery/bulb or beeper inserting a dressmaking pin into the insulation.
I am pretty certain your gap is a smidgen less than 1mm not one thousandth of one mm! Decimal places matter!

thank you and yes the decimals count! tested and got the ohms(cold) at 5.87 so now sighting in on the Igniter.
