Other Morning walkout to My 1995 Daytona 1200, Tap the Start button turns over no start. Second Tap Fires then Dies, choke issue. Tap Third time nothing no Lights nothing. Checked fuse it's Good. Get my Handy 2 Amp charger out, leave it about 1hr. Turn Key on the Lights Slowly Start to illuminate, Tap Starter Lights go Dead no Sound. Return with a New Battery. Connect New Battery turn the Key and The Tachometer Needle Starts Bouncing Up and Down making a Strange Sound, I Turned it Off and now I ask You. Anyone know what Might have caused this? How to Fix?
Jimekn Your new battery you made sure you fully tickle charged before fitting. Then you need to check all the wires and especially earths. Make sure your solenoid is good and clicking and the starter motor is is free best to do that with the plugs out. The there is all the old switching gear and ignition. So many thing it could be so just take it one bit at a time. Hope all goes well. Do keep us all in the know. Regards Joe.
I'm assuming that it was running and starting no problems beforehand It does sound like a discharged battery or an earthing problem.... either a poor earth connection - or - a wire is earthing on the frame somewhere... which is strange as i'd expect the fuse to blow as Joe says take one system at a time... hope you find the trouble and that it is simple to fix
Its been awhile since I felt like dealing with this problem. I recently changed Ignition Sensor and Coils. Tested the New Parts and 1 of my New Coils is my problem. I ordered 1 more Coil will let you know how it goes.
