Hey all. as title says, oops!
Went to get on doris this morning , noticed half of key missing. now, last night I put steering lock on as usual and went in house , thinking all good.

I know it's prob a dealer only thing, and no I haven't got the manual with the key code, I know....... no need to tell me. anyhoo, do any of you wonderful people have any idea of dealer process in getting a new key and barrel fitted, and is there a secret other option that won't cost a mortgage, as I suspect the dealer will? at the moment the poor girl can't even get out to be collected unless you lift and drag her heavy carcass a long long way....

Thank you all... and let the piss taking commence.... I probably deserve it

    Hey Todge,
Just remove the barrel and throw it away, I do it on every bike I Buy/Own ! As I've had the nasty experience (On a Laverda) of the barrel disintegrating and falling into the locked position whilst manoeuvering out of an underground car park! Nearly tossed me and the bike in a shite pile ! It's only worth a penny in comparison to your machine !!! And as an anti theft device forget it ! I"ve heard of guys breaking through some real heavy deterrents to get a bike, just buy a new key so you can still get the seat off, enjoy your machine and don't worry about it disappearing / being stolen. If someone wants it. It's gone !I insure mine that gives me all the peace of mind I need !!!!

    Cheers Mick

Another good idea DD, you're like the 'Marge Proops' of the Triumph world! Lol
Just be careful with them there magnets, I once forgot I had put a 25mm dia. Neo-dynium magnet in my pocket, nearly crushed mi bollocks when I went to unlock the car.
It took the AA 2 hours to work out how to separate me from the car door.

You will have a job to get the ignition off as they have shear bolts. I think your best way it remove the top yoke and then remove the barrel to work on it ( should be able to remove with a punch). Id take to a locksmith who can then remove and replace.

Can you get the point of a needle in. You may be able to firk it out little by little . Worth a punt. I know it has worked before but depends how far in the key broke and how tight it fitted. I would think the key would be just a tiny bit proud of the barrel. Good luck mate. And no piss taking from me.

    Not being silly, but superglue...
If careful. can you superglue a screwdriver to the end of the key and when set, remove it?

Or; 3m adhesive pad, that would pull the key out depending on how much is exposed

For a quick try you may be able to use blue tac, I have done it before with a door key

WD 40 is a Water Displacing fluid, not a lubricant, a few drops of 3 in 1 should keep things operating nicely.

How did he get it out, could be useful for others ? If you could get it out yourself most key cutters could cut a key to suit from the main bit.
    Glad youre sorted tho.

Yes apparently it was developed by the aero industry (NO, not the chocolate bar!) for removing/protecting airplane wings from ice.
