For those who have had powdercoating done on their spoked wheels did you have spokes and hubs removed?

I enquired yesterday for price and the company said they would do the wheel in one : spokes still intact.

Im ok about this and realise if spokes need adjustments it may be a slight issue but any other concerns?

    TIA

This may not help but, back in the day I had my MG Midget wire wheels powder coated and it worked brilliantly. If you look at car wire wheels the painted and chromed wheels aways rust but in 3.5 years mine never did. They were incredibly easy to clean (for wire wheels that is) and looked great.

I am conscious that I never tried to adjust the spoke tension but, how often do they need adjusting anyway?

That does help. Totally agree that spokes dont need little adjustment , i fact if never had to. Reading more online the concerns appear to be at the base where they could flex and crack the coating

    Hi!

Not yet...... took wheels off the bike at the weekend and boxed up tonight for shipping to the guys at Central Wheel Components! Got a good quote for rims and hubs powercoated and new spokes / nipples.

I'll post the results in 3-4 weeks

Have you had your wheels coated yet and does the wheel have to be stripped to do it, or just the tyres off?
Also emailed to central wheels do a price on powder coating and sealing the spokes, so I could do away with the inner tube, but they only quoted me for sealing the spokes!

    Thanks
    Neil
