Has anybody ever ordered a helmet online? Just looking to get my missus a new one and demon tweeks down the road from me are messing about so I was going to order online. But dubious just in case it gets dropped by the courier. Anybody had any good / bad experience?
i did order a limited edition TT helmet a few years ago ,tried it on seemed fine but after the first ride i found it was a bit tight contacted the supplier who said they wouldn't change as it was used after some time there did yield and agreed to change but i have to pay for postage both ways ,i just forgot about it as the cost of postage was so high and no guarantee that the new one would be right,i won't buy on line now rather spend a bit of petrol money ,go on a road trip and get to a bike shop
Problem is she wants a specific one (guy martin) and they were everwhere a couple of months ago but now are like hens teeth. I have ordered it from J and S, one of their stores is about 30 mins away so if they start being funny I will pop in.
Ive never had a problem with ordering helmets on-line, try it on in a shop then surf the net to see who is selling it the cheapest. Every one i have ever bought on the net has come well packaged & the box intact.
Is that the yellow & grey one with the bird on the top & the skull/spanners on either side? Ive got one of those too, still boxed up & never been worn.
If they are that local then go in person to make the purchase, that way you know it hasnt been dropped or kicked around by the courier..... Lazy git!
Yeah that's the one I would have bought one last week but they are out of stock in the local shop they ordered me one from another branch. I'm fairly good at complaining so if its damaged it will be back to them!
Sportsbikeshop in Boston are spot on at helmet delivery, very well packed and if you change your mind they take returns.
Got the kids helmets from Ghostbikes - prices are fantastic - not a 'brand' name but as it's only for the odd gentle ride out on the back... Came boxed, completely unmarked. Downside as always though is sizing - had to send one back to swap for larger so lost a lot of my original saving on the postage but no quibble at all from Ghostbikes. Just make sure you don't remove the tags or visor sticker till you're sure!
Ok so the helmet turned up yesterday and there wasn't much packaging in the box which was a bit worrying but the box itself was intact. I'm still a bit mixed about the whole 'posting a helmet' scenario and I'm not sure I would do it if I had another option. The missus likes her new lid though which is all that matters. She's now telling everybody she's had Guy Martins helmet all over her face.
