over winter i'm going to look at getting my standard seat improved as i find it very hard in a couple of spots after an hour or two in the saddle. I'm not aware as yet of any custom seats specific for the R, has anyone else done this yet? I dont carry pillion and want to retain the cowl the bike came with. i love the actual material, but not the thinness of the foam as you can depress it straight into the plastic. before anyone asks i'm not a lard ass either, only 14st and like a racing snake
I think its often the fact that a lot of meat is on a very small area. if you put softer ,thicker foam on , you compress it till its hard again. I don't get the gel thing, it doesn't compress-just moves around a bit which I spose might help.I guess asking an upholstery pro' might help finding the holy grail of seat material.
On my push bike I have a small piece of leather that is as hard as stone for a seat. Once my backside got used to it it became the most delightful place for my rear to be. Is it possible that we just need to get on with it until we are comfortable with the saddles?
