I've got some 3 Pistons Be mirrors for my 2014 Speedy and they look great.... In the box! Went to fit them and the OE inserts that are screwed into the bars (end cap screws screw into the insert) won't come out! Grrrrr r! I've ordered some M5 x 50mm bolts as the original bolts are too short and also countersunk. Bolts that came in the box are slightly too large so won't just screw straight in. Anyone else had this problem? Real pain as it's a 10 minute job and it's taking days waiting for the bolts to arrive.
Yep, you can get it wrong even with genuine Triumph bar end mirrors, there are (at least) two different versions of bars with different inserts, one has a larger thread than the other. I believe some have managed to remove the inserts to allow fitting of the expanded collet type, but I suspect it's not easily done without risking damage to the bars.
I was aware of this before i fitted my 3 pistons so fitted some new bars as well in red just for a change and they are a little higher with a bit more pull back for my short arms lol
I came across the same problem. I locked a bolt init n put a massive pliers onto it and pulled it AND only things happened was my bike almost toppled over. I ended up getting longer bolts n washers n it's all good now.
They are Rizoma fat bars, cheaper than Renthal and come in 3 different rise heights and colours. I have the 50mm rise bars and i paid £60.00 as Moorespeed will give a little discount if pushed
I've managed to fit the 2016 OE bar end mirrors to my 2014 ST - Quality, usable, genuine triumph mirrors for half the price of the triumph accessory brand items that look nice but I found way too small to actually work. The mirrors are approx £35 each + a couple of aid for the pinch bolt - inc vat about £80 odd. My buddy who's an meticulous engineer made up top hat bar ends that are required for the mirror clamps to fit to - stunning over-engineered quality, way better than standard. I'll post a couple of photos and if anyone is interested he'll do a pair for £40.
So finally sorted! Popped into a local bike shop (Bransons Yeovil) and they had nothing to offer but the guy on the parts counter told me to pop around the corner to the fixings store. Bought a couple of M5 x 50mm stainless Allen cap end screws and hey presto 2 min job when I got home. I'll post some pics when I get a chance to take some in daylight. Cost 50p...shame they weren't in the kit. Oh yeah ones I ordered from Amazon that were due next wk arrived today as well... Grrrrr!
Just got a set today myself. Lucky for me I already have a huge box of spare bolts lol... only bit I can't see what it'd possibly be for is the metal plate with a hole in it?
