I have a 2016 Speed R and was wondering if anyone has any luggage for theirs? I'm wanting a tankbag but more after a tailpack. Where did you buy them from and how much? I'm also thinking of getting a seat cowel and wondered if this would affect the tail pack? Thanks Paul
Thanks RR. I'll have a look. I think Triumph sell a tailpack but sure it will be 50% more expensive than any other stuff of the same quality1
If you fancy a bit more space Givi do a semi-rigid pannier system, not sure if it's compatible with the latest SpeedIII, may be they'll bring something out soon if not. http://www.motorcycleplanet.co.uk/p...k-pannier-rack-for-triumph-speed-triple-1050/ I only fit the rear pegs and pannier frames when we go away, takes about half an hour, so no good really if you want spur of the moment luggage. Generally pleased with them with one exception!!!, after going over a pretty serious sunken manhole cover one of the panniers flew off. The pannier survived remarkably well after bouncing down the road at 50mph, just cosmetic damage and clipped straight back on, was able to continue holiday without problem. Not really sure how it managed to come off as there is an idiot proof locking system, must have flexed sufficiently under the considerable G force. Anyway Givi eventually replaced them, and I intend using a luggage strap in future just to make sure and for peace of mind.
Kriega is the way to go. It's durable, simple to fix and remove . I believe they come with some 10 year warranty. But as roadrider said, you will need to remove the seal cowl. The attached picture is a US30 + US5 and my backpack R25. Did 6,000 miles through Europe and no drama
Just back from 1500 high speed miles in N Spain using the Givi panniers system - bit of a faff to prep the bike (won't fit with R&G tail tidy) but once on totally secure and typically excellent Givi quality
If you are going the kriega route. Make sure to cover the fairing (just that little area between the seat n tail section above the rear brake lights). This is to avoid the kriega bag rubbing on your paint work when secured on the pillion seat through the subframe. You can use some sort of wrap.
+1 for Kriega. I use a US20 every day for my commute. Holds puncture repair kit, fuel transfer thingy, spare gloves and lunch ...and still half empty Had it three years and the only sign of wear is the wording has faded, zips are good, stitching holding strong anf 100% waterproof
On a trip to Germany earlier this year I see a 2015 94R with a topbox on and it looked ok, what he had done was bought a spare seat off ebay and bolted the base plate to the rear of the seat and bobs your uncle. Agree with others about kriega but it does get a pain unpacking and packing it up if your on a week long trip and your clothes look like they have been put through a mangle by day 3 ha ha
Just came across these which may be what your looking for, same seller has a few different ones for sale and at a good price I think (although not sure) look below on link https://www.gumtree.com/search?sear...","s":"kriega","p":1,"t":10}&search_location=
I got this one as I only wanted the option to carry the thermal liner for my jacket, a change of shirt and some gloves. I really like it, it stays where it should on the back seat and looks ok to. I will post up a fitted image over the weekend
As for speed....with us30 on my Gixxer 1000 , I clocked the speedo on German Autobahn. And the only thing that flew off was my bloody front fender 3 bolts. I had to cable tie the fender. As for the Kriega it stayed solid.
^^^^ which you will be doing. My brotherin law spent most time on his ktm 990 on the rear wheel staring at the sky during our bike trip.
Hi guys, I have just purchased the new 2016 S3R model and noticed that under the pillion seat there is only 1 pair of loops to attach the Kriega Bags (I own the US40 set-up from my previous bike which had 2 pairs of loops). How have you ended up fitting the US-Series Krigas to your bike? Thanks in advance!
Congratulations on your new purchase The set up must be 1 pair loops per bag (To ensure absolute secure fitting). So if you are running US30+US10 then 1 pair of loops through sub-frame to US30 and 2nd pair loop through US30 to US10. Someone with the 2016 model should be able to confirm whether there is a place to loop through the sub-frame. The attached pictures are on older model but you get the gist of it
Paul SW Motech do a set for >2016 similar to Givi. Richard H on here had them: http://thetriumphforum.co.uk/threads/s-w-motec-blaze-panniers-for-sale.1553/ old thread but you'll get the gist
