    Hi

I live in Derbyshire and my husband is actually the Triumph fan. His father used to ride back in the 1970's. He was very ill last year and we thought we might lose him. However, he pulled through and my husband wants to buy a Triumph to tinker with along with his Dad to make the most of things.

I am being the typical "you can't get a motorbike" wife and giving him a hard time.

However, I want to surprise him with a Triumph at Christmas.

I know he wants a vintage but I haven't got a clue what to get.

    Help please????

This might be the best thread ever I wish my misses would do that! Let me kick things off by saying bonneville? Any other thoughts?

Welcome to the forum by the way!

Welcome to the forum, really depends what you want to spend and what size of engine, if you want a ready to go bike or a restoration project,Bonnevilles can be expensive restored but some Triumph 3TA 350cc , 5TA 500cc can be reasonable if you want to " tinker " with them

Hi. The vintage stuff can be stupid money (kinda wish I'd held onto my old one), however, as luck would have it I know where you can buy a really nice green 2007 Speed Triple with one careful owner for £4,000. x

Thank you everyone. I've heard him say 350cc. I like the idea of a restoration project as I don't know how much I'm going to be able to syphon out of the joint account. I suppose my shoe budget just went up for the year. He hasn't got a license yet so he could have one that doesn't even need to be running. He can restore it while he sorts passing his test. I'll keep my eye open for a bonneville project. Do they come up on the forums often? I won't be ready to buy until later this year though.
Thanks again for all the responses

I think you must be a great 'current wife'! what a great idea. Sorry but I can't recommend a 'classic' as I've only got experience with newish Triumph's, best of luck with the search and I hope you all have many happy years of tinkering and mopping up oil from the garage, drive, kitchen, conservatory!! :upyeah:

I've got a lot of friends over Derbyshire way and at least two of them are well into classic Triumphs. I'll try to remember to speak to them tomorrow. x

Just had a quick look at this - it's at £1,750 with about 2 hours left.
