Got my baby back today. Total cost of the 12k service was £487 but they didn't have to do the oil or filter (done 500 miles or so ago by the shop I bought it from) and I supplied the spark plugs. So apart from the regulator that is burning out and a new air filter all is good. All shims and valve were spot on with no adjustment required and on the throttle balancing just the 3rd cylinder need a tweak. All greased up and ready to do some more miles

On the regulator front seen one on fleabay for a tenner so hoping it will be ok, looks new.

At 24000 miles at least I'll have 20 years to save up. Orrr being out of warranty I'll do whatever myself

How come we are talking filthy money talk when we should be talking about the cost of smiles per mile

 

The 12k on a daytona is a biggy. Single side swing arm has to be dismantled, re-lubed and re-asembled. Same as the headstock. Forks-oiled but still a lot of cash. Still cheaper than the dealer though.... just!

 

Gonna head to Loomies for a coffee. Doing the dad taxi thing and will he leaving Bournemouth around 8.5am aiming for Loomies 10 ish, quick coffee for the return trip to pick him back up at 11.30

Went to Cheltenham Festival of Bikes on Sunday on a ride-out with some other lads, arranged by Shaun of Jack Lilleys (thanks Shaun). About 20 of us. Good roads, good company. Festival OK, but car park almost as interesting, with some very desirable bikes parked up, including an immaculate Jota 1000 & Yamaha RD500 V4. Lots of Triumphs too !

 

Went to that, was distinctly underwhelmed by it.
As you say, it was more interesting wandering around the car park.....

 

Good luck with that Wayne. I'm in awe of you guys that can do this stuff. Me I have to go to the motorcycle shop for repairs.

Often a mate to turn to or assist for a cuppa or so, helps to get experience and then confidence.

Many a true word there chaps. Start small until your confidence and skills build up, get decent tools, and, know when to back out and let the local fixer sort it out. worked for me for 40ish years of fixing bikes, cars, lawn mowers etc.

 

Well I fitted my new shiny chain, so all is happy..........

...... But I snapped the screw that holds the gear shifter on its splines

 

Well crap wet day but my lift came so got the Street up on it for a good clean in all those places you don't see
