Well peeps i am now down to just one hat that i replace every four years and my boy takes my old one as he is riding a small cc yet.
I had a clear out recently and threw a few helmets in the bin, some ancient, like a Paddy Hopkirk Agordo F, a really old open face and some what some folks might see as serviceable including premium Arai and Shoe lids. Personally I would never buy a used helmet so wouldn’t consider selling them. I’ve had replicas in the past, plus riding gear to match the bike etc but I just, sort of got past all that and a replica wouldn’t get a second glance these days. It’s all about personal choice of course so whatever floats your boat!
When replacing a helmet don't throw the old one away give it to the fire or ambulance service for them to use in training. You never know when they might need to remove a helmet for real and it could be one of us!
Last time I offered one to the trainers at work, they had sufficient, unless people have the style with the removable cheek pads etc that the newer models have, they understandably have far fewer of those. Always worth asking your local emergency services though as I am sure all areas are different.
@Mrs Visor You tell them. Just like you i don't give two hoots what other say. What's is mine and i like them.
I like that. Hmmm, Scottish Motorcycle Show on Saturday, I wonder if I should be looking at a new helmet!
@ajc400 Go for it spoil yourself. You know you want to. I only have the one Helmet. Never really needed any more. But it is the £500 Aria.
Here’s mine….. 2 different helmets, same themes…. Yellow, Zebra stripes, Derbyshire flag, Eyam rat and Clint the Tiger. Custom painted by Lee at Dzign, Macclesfield Shoei Hornet for the Explorer. Shoei GT Air 2 was for the BMW and Thruxton, although sold them last year so this helmet won’t get much use ‘till I get another 2nd bike.
Thanks, I agree the artwork is ace and yeah I know it’s not for everyone but my thinking is very similar to that of @Mrs Visor a few posts above, I do things that I like …..no excuses, no regrets
Love it! It's great to see a bit of originality. The only thing that stops me getting a custom job is the cost. I bet yours was at least half the price of the helmet. I've only ever bought a plain, single colour helmet once and that was a black Arai to match my Bonneville..and in matt! Big mistake. Did you design it or was that down to Lee?
