    Mother nature is a bitch.

I posted on 2/10 about our six-inch snowfall capped with a layer of ice and how we were in a cold snap that resulted in the longest we have been with snow on the ground in recent memory. Well, a few days ago it warmed up a bit and rained hard, washing most of the snow away.

    I was ready for Spring!

The forecast for Sunday into Monday? We are gonna' get hammered!

Blizzard conditions with a possibility of 20" or more.

    Whaaaaah.

Thanks Sandi, insurance replacing carpet, walls and cabinets. Now need to wait for builders and Contents evaluation.

Well, I won't be doing anything with my Triumph for a while, except sitting on it in the garage making VAROOM, VAROOM noises. It wasn't as bad as predicted. They were talking 22"! We got about 16" Bad enough!

It made the news this side of the pond. The worst blizzard in NY for 9 yrs apparently with a temporary travel ban issued. I reckon you’ll still cope with it better than we would. Much less snow than that and we fall apart like a cheap watch.:joy:

We're about 95 miles south of NYC and 40 miles inland west of Atlantic City. Most of the N.E. coast got slammed. The shore towns got it worse.

All shoveled out now. I hate to wish time away (you don't get any more of it) but I can't wait till Spring. Still a lot of winter ahead, though. One of the worst blizzards we ever had was in April of '77.

Hi, Tony. My response to this post is a little slow (understatement!) but I'm curious what you thought about the presentation of the 2026 Bonneville range. Hope you're doing well. It's been a bit since we've chatted.

Hey Sandi! me too ()as in not being present here very much of late). Hope you're well.

Hmmm... I think my overriding view is that (1) they're all lovely bikes; (2) there are some improvements, but very much a case of evolution rather than revolution; and (3) my view - shared by the sales guys I spoke to - is that there's not enough change to warrant an upgrade, just for the sake of upgrading.

I like that-- "evolution rather than revolution". That's pretty much what I'm finding at the moment in Harley World, too. The models I currently own still exist but have not changed significantly. Although, of course, some new model year Street Glide or Low Rider ST always has to have some absolutely gorgeous paint job that I covet. :p:joy::joy: That said, surprisingly, I'm still happy as a clam with my 2019 speed triple RS and have no designs on an updated model or different model. Probably a wise financial decision since I'm retiring in three months. ;) How are you doing?

I'm doing well enough, Sandi, thank you - looking forward to some better weather though - it's rained almost every day for two months over here and I'm desperate to ride a bit more (I'm WFH today and it's allegedly going to be sunny, so...).

Very happy to hear that you're so close retirement - I know how much pressure you've been under and life’s too short. I'm actually retiring myself soon - my present interim management role runs to the end of July, and then that's it for me too :)

PS Still miss that beautiful Harley of mine, truth be told.

I am on rest days from work until Sunday and just had to get out on a bike . I had a mainly dry / slightly damp and very windy little fly around in Wales, with the odd sharper shower thrown in. Only 95 or so miles calling in at Baffle Haus and the Honey Cafe, but nice to be out on my little Striple. I had forgotten how noisy it was and how much it tried to pull my head off at a certain speed, having ridden my Ducati with its screen for my last outings . I am however, still as in love with it as ever, it just makes me grin every time I start it :). Unsurprisingly, there were very few other bikes out today - there was a V4 Streetfighter and a Honda Africa Twin at Baffle Haus, which are two of my favourite machines, but that was it.

No, it's got some extra padding in it and a custom recover by a very talented and reasonably priced man in Wales who does some fabulous work. The original seat is nice, but very much a plank - I had it done prior to riding to Spain / Portugal and took the opportunity to make it look a bit fancier ;). I am really pleased with it.

He does some really fabulous stuff; it used to be part time, although it was his dad's trade and he grew up learning it, but he left his full time job I think about a year ago to go full time and now has a unit and an awful lot of work!

Today, I took my Street Triple and Helmut his Multistrada. We met four friends in Rhayader for breakfast (on a BMW GS massive machine, KTM Superadventure massive machine, a Honda CB125F not massive machine and a Triumph Tiger 1200) and then did a nice loop of the Elan Valley, back to Rhayader. Three of them left from there and Helmut, I and our friend on his Tiger 1200 went via Devil's Bridge to the Halfway Inn at Pisgah for a coffee, which is owned by the people who used to run Two Hoots before they were ousted. I hadn't been to their pub before and just like Two Hoots it was very welcoming and I'll definitely go back.

From there we went through Aberystwyth back to Hereford on the A44, with our friend leaving us to go his own way at the roundabout at Llangurig.

188 miles done in beautiful (if a bit chilly!) weather.

    Approximate route:

I finally got out today as well. Temps in the mid-fifties. Still a lot of snow on the ground, just a tease of spring. I did about 50 mikes and it was beautiful. I stopped at the home of an old riding buddy who is not doing well. He had a stroke a while back but is about fully recovered and says he'll be on his '74 Dyna Wide in the spring. Hope so. He was a good riding partner. Anyhow, he has a small farm. This rooster took an interest in the Speedmaster, obviously a bird of discerning taste. I asked him if he wanted to come back to my house for dinner, but he declined. The other shots are at the head of the Mullica River, which starts up here and meanders about 40 mikes to the Atlantic. Still frozen solid. I also ruined an almost new helmet. I hung it on the handlebar while talking to my buddy and the plastic clip was hanging down, touching the hot pipe and it melted. *&$%!!!. No way to repair it as the nylon strap was damaged too. It may be a blessing in disguise. I was never comfortable with the plastic clip. I didn't trust it. I prefer the steel "D" ring on my old helmet, so I'll dig that one out and feel safer wearing it.
