Today I had an appointment at my Triumph dealer at 0800 hours. Therefore I left my home for the 100 kilometres ride at 0630. The temperature at my start was 3 degrees celsius. To reach my dealer I had to ride two times above the altitude of 1.000 metres. In those mountainous parts of my way it was a bit frosty but it never went under 1 degree celsius. The road conditions were acceptable, mostly wet, but I had to ride carefully due to possible icy parts. In some areas I was riding through heavy fog. I reached my dealer without any issues. There my pre-ordered pannier-set was mounted on my Rocket. As always I got a great price reduction from them. The mounting time was about half an hour. This time I used to walk through my dealers shop and there I saw some really nice looking bikes! The pannier mount equipment was reduced and I had not to pay for the complete mounting. Another great deal! The set looks great and gives the possibility to carry 25 liters in each pannier. For our upcoming rides it will be great. Today I was also able to use my two locks which I received when I bought my Rocket. Info: A Rocket is delivered with two pannier locks when you buy one; independently from buying an additional pannier set. As you may have expected my Rocket locked again like a dirt-bike after the second 100 kilometres ride back home. Therefore I took my Rocket to a self-service carwash and cleaned it intensively. Now my "new" Rocket is locked into our garage because winter is coming back to our area for the next days. Some impressions: My Rocket after reaching the dealer in the morning. An "Icon" Scrambler 1200. A wonderful white Scrambler 1200. An "Icon" Bobber. An "Icon" Bonnie T120. The mounted panniers. The new look of my Rocket with panniers. Again from the back. My "dirt bike". The pannier-mount in detail. In my opinion it is not destroying the great look of the Rocket and it is very functional too!
Markus, those pannier mounts are beautiful. I think they enhance the look of the tail end. Somewhat different to the ugly scaffolding pannier mounts on my Tiger 900.
@Markus, I laughed after reading your ride description and then you saying that "winter is coming back" to your area. It sounds quite like you rode through winter to get to your dealership! I really like those panniers on your Rocket. They look great and it sounds like they have lots of storage capacity. And the mounts look good, too. Are they quick release so you can take the panniers off if you like? Thanks for all the dealesrhip Triumph photos you shared. I have to say I like the details on those Icon bikes. I noticed that right off at our dealership event when I looked at the Icon Speedmaster.
@Sandi T: My definition of "winter" is cold temperatures with snow and ice. - Otherwise it is only "frosty". The panniers are "quick releaseable". You just have to unlock by turning the key in the lock and the panniers are released.
Wow! What a great addition to the bike! I'm impressed at the mounting, and like the additional bracket looks! Since I have two Triumphs with large panniers (Sprint GT and Trophy SE), in addition to a top box, I use the storage very often. We have even toured for a few days (2-up). The storage allows me to use the bikes for errands rather than a car. PS. One of my favorite vacations was a bicycle tour (on a Danube River boat) including a trip through the orchards and small villages outside of Vienna! Just beautiful scenery!
@Rob the Scott: I am now riding my Rocket nearly for one year. On our rides through Europe I tested it and was very impressed about it's touring abilities. Therefore I am selling now my former touring-bike, my BMW R1250 RS and equipped my Rocket with the panniers. After 18.000 kilometres I only can say, I love to ride it!
@Sandi T: Winter in my understanding came back last night! Fortunately it will last only until tomorrow! On Wednesday it will be possible to bike again! This is the result of some hours of winter.
@Markus Well i will let you off. If we had some snow i would be out there building one for or helping the Grandkids build one
