How’s it working out? I’ve a similar one that needs a bit of nursing regarding weight vs leverage. On the whole is works but not like one of those fancy rabaconda ones

Last thing I bought - Kiess heated gloves at eye watering money a few weeks ago and not had chance to use them as yet.

I haven’t used it properly yet. I was going to change the tyres on a Yamaha 175 using it but the centre shaft diameter is too big for the smaller bearings on its wheels so I used a piece of screwed rod to try and hold the wheel in place. It did break the bead really well but the wheel wasn’t held good enough to remove the tyres with it so rather than making up something to hold it correctly I just used tyre levers to change them. I think it should be ok on more modern wheels though but I haven’t tried it yet.

Although have yet to pay the money the deal is agreed so the last thing that I have bought is this:-

    IMG_20251227_115536_hdr.jpg

1999 Honda Shadow VT600 with 19,005km on the clock the tyres might very well be the originals so are being replaced it's been serviced but due to the New Years disruption it will be a couple of weeks before we can take it for registration, it's an import from Holland, we are aiming for the 14th it will depend on tyre delivery and exactly where they are coming from when they arrive.

Well I will certainly try to but not for a little while yet:-

    1) it's too darned cold with snow and ice .... No thanks.
    2) not supposed to ride yet on doctors and surgeons instructions.
    3) not got the bike as yet was supposed to be 15th ut dealer was taken ill.

Have agreed through his son that as there is really no rush due to my not being allowed to ride that we can wait while his father gets better now if that is next week or next month it does not really matter as the deal is that he is assisting with the paperwork of registration and transporting the bike to KAT. It makes no difference it it sits in his workshop or my store as long as it's here registered and ready when I am cleared to ride and it's warmer and drier that is all that really matters.

Latest purchases have been a new Arai RX-7V EVO helmet and an Aoocci C6 Pro Display together with their rear facing radar Blind Spot Detection system which gives me dashcam cameras front & rear, TPMS, rear facing radar with a 30m range detecting upcoming traffic plus car play which means my iPhone can stay in my jacket pocket rather than on the Quadlock mount.

I've another one behind this one and that's just as bad and a large shed i built for the Mrs at the bottom of the garden and that's full of stuff so looking like I'm going to have to build something else otherwise I'm going to have to spend nearly £80 a month even longer for a storage unit or another alternative is to start selling stuff I've just ordered another triumph jacket and boots for this years DGR
Anyone want to buy a boat but that's another story o_O

Is that for the front I've avons on my Thunderbird but the front one needs replacing i managed to pick up a new but old stick Dunlop but would prefer to stay with the avons another reason being that is what I've got down as leaving the factory with also is it tuned or tubeless because I'm running on tubed and unsure if the rims will except tubeless bit of a debate out there regarding this

Yes all mine I've got a bit of a problem i go through fazes it was tools then fishing tackle now slowing down on bike gear (23 helmets) but still won't say no to a bargain and now because of all this it's a storage obsession it has been around 50 years of collection though I've got a slight hoarding problem you may of guessed

Got this Tubeless front tyre from these guys, really helpful too https://cmsexeter.co.uk/
I did my own conversion almost 4 years ago now. I've never had a problem with them.

This next statement only applies to my 1995 Thunderbird.
The Akront Rims do have the correct safety humps for our system to work. This was a guy in the central wheel company who actually built my wheels. I was considering getting them to fit their system, but they'd only guarantee it for something like 12 months or so.
Please check before you do this that your rimes DO HAVE the said safety hump.
I'm not recommending you do this, it's entirely up to you.

I saw Delboy’s video when he first posted it and it would certainly be the way I would go with spoked wheels.

I used to follow his channel religiously until I found that he will delete comments that he doesn’t like or suggest a better solution to the one he is demonstrating.

Can you please explain what you mean by “safety hump”?

    Many thanks.

If you look at the cleaned wheel, if you go from the outside of the rim, move to the left or right, till you come across the next raised bit on the rim. I don't know how to put an arrow on the picture to show you even more. I may highlight on another picture. I'll have to use the laptop and a pencil to show you. Back in 5 mins
